About This Project
The Open Vehicle Monitoring System is an all open-source remote monitoring, diagnosis and control system for vehicles, especially EVs. Depending on the vehicle integration it reports state of charge, temperatures, tyre pressures and fault conditions, alerts you about events like a charge abort, battery cell failure or possible theft, and can control charging, climate and tuning parameters. It's also used for fleet monitoring. For developers it includes CAN tools: several logging formats, a configurable OBD2 translator, a DBC decoder, a reverse-engineering toolkit and a CANopen client, plus SSH access, WebSocket streaming and CAN frame streaming over TCP. The ESP32-based module has three CAN buses built in, and both firmware and web frontend take plugins. The point, the project says, is keeping control of your own vehicle data.
